(Here's your long awaited post Allison!!!)
I don't even know where to begin.
My life has forever changed and I am afraid I will never get the innocence of my youth back.
My cool points have totally been depleted and I am sitting at a big fat ZERO balance.
I feel old.
I feel like every stereotype that ever was.
Why did we make this decision right before a birthday that will officially put me into my thirties?
Hi blog world. My name is Melissa and I....
......I drive a minivan!
Oh, to see those words on the screen still make my heart skip a beat, and not in the new puppy love sort of way.
That's right, the Halford family now owns, like the other 97% of the middle American population, a minivan. We are the new owners of a Honda Odyssey.
I know I know...All you minivan moms out there. Don't tell me how much I am going to love it and how in a few short month I won't be able to imagine my life without it. I know. I just don't want to be known as a minivan mom. I still can't get out of my mind that my next car isn't going to be a great little two door stick shift Jeep circa 1985. I am sure in time I will treasure all the handy features of my new ride. I am sure one day all of those safety features it took the sales guy a half an hour to go over will save me from a hazardous accident. And when that time comes, all vanity will be pushed aside and I will be thankful, but until then....
I pray that the Lord will allow me to shuttle around my kids as much as possible because I didn't feel the lowest of low until I was driving around town...by myself...in a minivan...and caught a glimpse of my reflection in an office building window. (Ouch...cue the tears!)
Atleast my husband loves me enough to throw in this fresh tshirt for me to wear while driving my new ride...
Thanks baby! I love you, and the new car too!

laughing histarically over here...i'm suprized that you can't hear me! girl, i SO know the feeling! we just couldn't do it...not yet...as 26, 27 year olds...we just could not bring ourselves to do it (although it makes all the sense in the world!) kudos to you for taking the plunge! we'll be there some day, sooner than later, i'm sure! love the shirt--i would be rockin' that out!
That t-shirt is cracking me up! I know, it's hard...man is it hard. At least it's not baby blue.
So you loved that rental van so much you bought one??
Honda Odyssey's rock! Buh ha ha ha!
But I'm SURE it was purchased for all your camera equipment... right?!
Mel, mel, mellie, mel... I feel your pain. We bought none other than a Honda Odyssey right before Brock was born 5 years ago, and I think we both know that I am TOOOOOO cool for a minivan! I hate to tell you this, but I still hate it. In fact, I harp on Tim weekly giving him the countdown on how much longer I will drive it before I come home with a new ride, with or without his approval. Submissive wife, no, but I figure that is the least of what just might keep me out of heaven. (Praying for Grace even as I type). I will give you a hint of what makes it somewhat better (not much, but it makes you smile). Shannon and I started calling it an MV because that sounds much cooler than a mini-van. So, enjoy the sliding doors on the MV, they are handy, and especially when it is raining. One day the kids will get big enough to open their own car door and you will be released from your prison of Uncool! Hang in there!
Another one bites the dust. So far I have managed to steer clear of the minivan world. I don't know how much longer I can hold out but I'm holding onto my gas guzzling SUV for all it's worth. I will not be a minivan mama, I will not, I will not ... okay I'm sure I will but not just yet.
Love the t-shirt.
Ha ha! Just don't let Ryan drive it alone. Men look so...defeated when they drive MVs.
No worries though--you'll always be young and carefree in my mind!
Welcome to the world of mini-van owners. I was 22 when we got ours and you get the strangest looks when your cruisin' down the streets windows down with Snoop Dog blaring on the radio! HaHa! I love ours now and will never drive anything else!
LOL! Too funny!
I'll tell you what, I would SO much prefer a minivan over my "sexy" ride- a 15 passenger van! UGH!
So proud of you! We test drove a few burbs yesterday and though a bit cooler than the van - not near as practical or handy. We haven't decided what to get yet. Please update on how it's going with the new ride.
Too funny! I've said I will never drive one either, but I'm guessing that eventually I will.... especially with the gas prices these days!
